I’m sure you won’t be surprised to learn that every year around Thanksgiving, we talk about the Pilgrims. Even though it is only July, I did so again today. Both my younger and older child watched the Pilgrims Thanksgiving story from “This is America, Charlie Brown.” I have all the shows on DVD, but I was able to find a few scenes on YouTube:

But we know that history is written by the victors, and in this country, history is typically written by the white people. By now, we should all know that the romanticized version of the story is largely “fake news.” More details:

After my older child watched this video, we talked–don’t we always?–about the similarities between how the settlers felt about the Native Americans then and how some people now in our country feel about immigrants.
