Harriet Tubman was born in Maryland, back in 1822. If you visit the town of Cambridge in Dorchester County, you’ll find quite a few Harriet Tubman landmarks still stand. This mural was my favorite. It is located alongside the Harriet Tubman Museum and Educational Center (currently closed for renovations after water damage). If you walk downtown, the mural’s sign hard to miss.

A blue sign mounted on a red frame, the Harriet Tubman “Take My Hand” Mural sign directs visitors to the mural in Cambridge, Maryland.

The mural is lovely in the photos, but stunning in person.

The Harriet Tubman mural in Cambridge, Maryland, features a gorgeous photo of Harriet Tubman reaching through a brick wall to guide and welcome others to freedom.

Cambridge and Dorchester County are full of Harriet Tubman landmarks. See the picture below. It’s a lovely area and worth the visit. Plan to spend a weekend.

A historical marker called “Tubman Connections” lists many of the Harriet Tubman landmarks in and around Cambridge and Dorchester County, Maryland.

Philadelphia isn’t too far away. Make it a week if you have time.

Never stop learning,

Erin
