I have been homeschooling for nearly a decade. I’ve enjoyed it much of the time, muddled through it on occasion, and–if I’m honest–even contemplated sending my kids to private school once or twice. But I have never waivered from my dedication to quality education, whether that is at home, in a private school, or in a public classroom. In fact, my desire to do more has increased greatly over the past year. As I’ve watched our educational systems and public libraries face unprecedented challenges, I become more convinced than ever that a robust education is the great equalizer, that education is the savior of the masses. I’d like to move into a more active role than just posting randomly on this blog.
Starting in June, I will be running a new venture, one that more actively advocates for students and their educations. Rather than returning to a traditional classroom, I will be establishing a virtual one, holding bootcamps and masterclasses on the intricacies of grammar and vocabulary morphology for middle and high school students, whether homeschooled or otherwise. Some of you remember my time as a public high school English teacher; I am currently renewing my certification to bring that classroom expertise into this new digital space.
I hope you will join me over at my new site, www.erinteachesenglish.com. I intend to launch the site later this month and classes on Outschool this summer. I will be starting with grammar intensives and adding classes on morphology in August. I expect to add a short story club in the fall.
If you want to be among the first to receive my Friday Archive updates and the first to know when my summer classes open, please sign up for my mailing list at my new site: www.erinteachesenglish.com. Click here for the direct link.
Never stop learning,
Erin
